Missing West Cork? Live here and love it? Always wanted to visit? Colum Cronin sent us this charming song some time ago and this is the perfect time to enjoy his wonderful voice with the images his song evokes. Wherever you are, stay safe and well, and sit back and enjoy.
Just ran across this journal while looking up Ballydehob. Had a tour to Ireland last fall and my siblings and I took a side trip to see the home where our mother was born there in 1923. We found the home with some help from locals in town and it was so beautiful there. My mother, Kathleen was born to Timothy and Elizabeth (née Cronin) Mahoney. I love the video and love your journal. I will be passing it onto my family and the rest of the Mahoney clan here in the states and I look forward to going back and reading more of your entries. Delightful!

Dunmanway got in at the death there 🙂 Your man has a good voice but I’ve never heard so many place names shoehorned into a song. Great work to match your great photos to the verses.

Huge thanks to Finola for so skilfully applying these beautiful images around my song ‘Welcome to West Cork’ Since I wrote this ‘way back in 1984, the song has been ‘crying out’ to have this job done around it. Finola & Amanda, your photography skills really shine through here. West Cork never looked so well. To those who have not been here, welcome to our beautiful world. There is nowhere else in the world quite as beautiful as West Cork.

It was an enjoyable task to put it all together, Colum. Your mellow tone underlies it all so wonderfully.

What a beautiful video and song which takes me right back to my many visits to West Cork and Ballydehob in particular where my father was born. I took one of my sons there last year and played golf at The Old Head. I’ll definitely forward this to my many cousins around the world. Thank you

Full of nostalgia! I spent many summers including in the war years , with my grandfather in Castletownshend, driving the pony trap (our only transport plus bicycles) out to Sandy Cove and Toe Head, and other places within reach that he mentioned!
